This marks her fifth Emmy nomination and third consecutive nod in the category. She previously took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for The Bear in 2023.This year’s ceremony comes just months after Edebiri officially said goodbye to Sydney. The Bear concluded with its final season in June, and while promoting the last episodes, the actor reflected on what it felt like to leave behind the character she had played since the series premiered in 2022.Edebiri told the Los Angeles Times that she had grown accustomed to the uncertainty that comes with making television. “They keep saying that we’re done, so I guess that really is the thing of it,” she said. “Obviously I know that it’s over, but even when we were finishing our first seasons, it didn’t matter how much critical acclaim we got because we’re on a show that’s a part of a network that has a deal with the streaming service—there’s all these things that are continually in flux or that you know that you have no control over.” She added, “As an actor, you’re used to this state of limbo or not totally knowing or being prepared for an ending, so I think I’m not overwhelmed by it, if that makes sense.”The actor also found herself unexpectedly emotional over something much smaller: Sydney’s wardrobe. In a June interview with Bustle, Edebiri recalled walking past racks of the cast’s costumes while preparing for her final fitting. “The last fitting was very emotional,” she said. “At the studio, they have all of our clothes there on racks outside, and something about just walking through everybody’s clothes just reminded me of that first fitting where we didn’t know anything—and you’re just creating, trying to figure out who this person is.”She did get to keep a piece of Sydney with her. When Reuters asked the cast what they had taken from set, Edebiri revealed that she chose something considerably more practical than restaurant memorabilia: “I got a pair of jeans that’s Sydney’s jeans that fit me very well and I was very grateful for that. I was grateful for that! Yeah. The kitchen stuff I don’t need. I’m like, I’m good at the kitchen stuff. I want her clothes. She has really nice clothes. She has credit card debt for a reason. She has some nice pieces.”
