Franklin D. Roosevelt estate: Franklin D. Roosevelt’s family estate in Hyde Park, New York, began with his father’s purchase of the property. Known as Springwood, the estate expanded significantly over the years to nearly 1,600 acres. Roosevelt’s childhood experiences there influenced his life and presidency. The estate later served as a political retreat and a venue for important meetings. Roosevelt also planned for its preservation, and it is now part of the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site.
