PDC chief executive Matthew Porter has confirmed that late changes are being made to the 2027 calendar.Scheduling from the international darts organisation is usually made known to the public around this time of year.It is not yet known when the 2027 events will take place after the World ChampionshipGettyThe 2026 timetable was revealed on September 11 last year, but fans are still waiting for 2027’s events after the World Championship, where Luke Littler will arrive as reigning champion in December. However, Porter has hinted that it is close to being announced, with some tweaks being made before it is finalised.“We’re making some last-minute changes,” he confirmed to Viaplay.“Next week, you will see it and I think, hopefully, you’ll like what you see.”New PDC event in 2027?“Every year, you give us one little tip for what is coming, something new’s coming,” the interviewer said, before then asking: “Is there something new you can tell us about?”“What’s one of your favourite events?” Porter replied. “Do you like the UK Open, the one that all the players play in? “Maybe we’ll do something like that.”When asked if the possible new event will be held in Europe, Porter replied with a ‘maybe’.But the PDC chief chose not to specify which country or city it could be held in.“It’s a big place, Europe. I’ll have to make a decision,” Porter said.Darts could be heading to a new location in EuropeGettyDecision on Middle East events to come soonPorter was then asked about how the ongoing conflict in the Middle East could affect event scheduling early in 2027.In 2026, both the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia legs of the World Series of Darts were staged in January, with the war escalating a month later.Formula 1 chiefs cancelled the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix, due to be held in April, as a result.Porter addressed the concerns, and said: “January is a challenge. “Our information from the region is that a lot of the decisions about major sporting events in the Middle East will be made after it’s known what’s going to happen with Formula 1 out there. “We expect that decision to come within the next four weeks, and I would imagine that the decisions that ourselves and other sports properties make, or have made for them, will come as a result of that.”It remains to be seen if any events will take place in the Middle EastGettyWhen asked if the PDC will follow F1 in regards to their decision, he replied: “Ultimately, we can make a decision, but our partners in the region are the ones who will make the final decision.“I think the main catalyst for those decisions will be what Formula 1 does.”
