The firm counted 135,694 people who hold at least $1 million in digital assets.Of those, 92,272 are bitcoin millionaires. Their wealth comes mainly from holding the coin itself.The report also found 290 people worldwide hold more than $100 million in crypto. Of that group, 151 hold most of their wealth in bitcoin.At the very top, there are 23 crypto billionaires. Nine of them built their fortunes through bitcoin.The global crypto market was worth about $2.6 trillion as of August 31. Bitcoin alone made up roughly $1.6 trillion of that figure.Bitcoin currently trades about 38% below the record high it hit in October 2025.How This Downturn Compares to Past Crypto WintersHenley’s report says this decline is milder than past crypto downturns. After previous peaks in 2011, 2013, 2017, and 2021, bitcoin’s price fell more than 75% each time.Ownership has kept expanding despite the drop. An estimated 742 million people now hold some form of digital asset. Of them, 371 million hold bitcoin.Which Countries Are Most Crypto FriendlyThe report includes the Henley Crypto Adoption Index, which ranks 36 countries on how they handle crypto regulation and adoption.Singapore ranked first for the fourth year in a row. The UAE moved up to second place, helped by a perfect score for tax friendliness.Hong Kong placed third, while the United States came in fourth. The U.S. was the only country to score a perfect 10 for public adoption of crypto.Switzerland rounded out the top five. Newcomers to this year’s index include The Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and Bahrain.Stablecoins are also changing how crypto wealth moves across borders. Researchers cited in the report said dollar-backed stablecoins let money move between countries in minutes instead of days.Regulation is becoming a bigger part of the picture too. The European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation took full effect in December 2024, creating shared rules across 30 countries.Looking ahead, reporting requirements are set to grow. Seventy-six countries have joined an OECD framework for sharing crypto tax information.The first exchange of that data between 46 countries is scheduled for September 2027.
