Malta’s two Junior Eurovision champions Gaia Cauchi and Destiny Chukunyere are joining forces with presenter Keane Cutajar to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest when it returns to Malta next month. The trio were officially unveiled as the presenters of this year’s contest, which will take place at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali on Saturday 24th October. It will be familiar territory for all three, with Cauchi, Chukunyere and Cutajar having already presented the Malta Eurovision Song Contest together earlier this year. For Cauchi and Chukunyere, however, hosting Junior Eurovision will be particularly special.Cauchi gave Malta its first-ever Junior Eurovision victory with The Start in 2013, while Chukunyere followed two years later by winning the 2015 contest with Not My Soul.Destiny later represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing seventh in 2021 with Je Me Casse, while both singers have since taken on coaching roles on The Voice Kids Malta.Cutajar, meanwhile, has built up experience hosting major live entertainment events and television productions, including Isle of MTV and Malta’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. This year’s Junior Eurovision will bring together young performers from 16 countries, with Malta hosting the competition for the third time following previous editions in 2014 and 2016.The 2026 edition will also put Maltese culture firmly in the spotlight, with organisers building the show around the country’s festa traditions under the theme “Join the Festa”.And with two of Malta’s Junior Eurovision winners now returning to the contest as hosts, this year’s show is shaping up to be a full-circle moment for the island’s Eurovision story. Are you excited for the Junior Eurovision?Photo credits to @junioreurovision•
