Russian forces struck a passenger train in the Mykolaiv region, a residential neighborhood in Sumy, and a civilian minibus in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Ukrainian forces also reported hitting a Russian Su-24 bomber at Saky air base in occupied Crimea.Russian forces launched drone strikes across Kyiv and the surrounding region throughout the day. In the morning, a jet-powered drone struck a warehouse in the Sviatoshynskyi district, injuring one person.That evening, another jet-powered Banderol drone struck a four-story building belonging to a higher education institution in the Holosiivskyi district. No casualties were reported.Separately, drone strikes across the Bila Tserkva, Boryspil, Brovary, Bucha, and Obukhiv districts of the Kyiv region damaged eight private houses, five vehicles, a communal institution, a hangar, and an industrial facility. Regional officials said one person was injured in Boryspil.Kyiv’s outskirts have been a recurring target. The Gateway Pundit covered similar strikes earlier this month.In Sumy Oblast, Russian forces struck the city of Sumy with KAB glide bombs, damaging residential buildings, outbuildings, and vehicles. Five people were wounded in the strike, and a 63-year-old man later died in hospital from his wounds.On the eastern front, Russian forces struck six settlements in the Bohodukhiv, Izyum, and Kharkiv districts of the Kharkiv region with KAB bombs, UAVs, and FPV drones. The attacks damaged private houses and vehicles and injured 12 people, regional authorities said.In the Yuzhno-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces said they repelled 17 enemy attacks near Lyman, Prylipka, Starytsia, and Izbytskyi, as well as toward Mala Vovcha and Volokhivka. Russian forces also attacked three times near Kivsharivka and Tabaivka in the Kupiansk direction.The deadliest single incident of the day occurred in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, where a Russian FPV drone struck a civilian minibus in the Nikopol district, killing five people and wounding seven others.On the southern front, Russian forces carried out combined attacks across the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.In Zaporizhzhia, Russian aircraft, drones, multiple-launch rocket systems, and artillery carried out 746 strikes, including 22 airstrikes, against 52 settlements over 24 hours. The attacks damaged infrastructure, homes, vehicles, and outbuildings in 25 separate incidents, killing one person and injuring seven.In Kherson Oblast, Russian drone and artillery strikes hit Kherson city and 25 other settlements. The attacks damaged three high-rise residential buildings, four private houses, agricultural machinery, and vehicles. One person was killed, and nine were wounded.In Mykolaiv Oblast, Russian drones struck passenger train No. 122, traveling from Kyiv to Mykolaiv, three times in the Bashtanka district. The State Emergency Service said all 168 passengers were evacuated, with no reported casualties.Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine’s national railway operator, said its monitoring team provided an early warning that allowed the crew and passengers to evacuate before the strikes. The company added that “the enemy continues hunting passenger trains.”In Odesa, a Russian jet-powered drone struck garages, killing one man and damaging three garages and two cars. These are just the latest rail strikes targeting Ukraine’s passenger network.Ukraine’s General Staff reported approximately 1,530 Russian personnel losses over 24 hours. It also claimed that Ukrainian forces destroyed or damaged dozens of drones and artillery systems.Ukrainian forces also said they struck a Su-24 bomber at Saky air base in occupied Crimea, along with other targets.On the diplomatic front, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said at least 2,982 people from 37 African countries had been recruited into the Russian armed forces, with nearly 490 known to have been killed. Ukrainian diplomatic missions are informing African governments about the recruitment and conducting information campaigns in countries where Ukraine maintains a diplomatic presence.In Poland, President Karol Nawrocki was set to convene a meeting on September 18 to discuss the country’s security situation amid rising tensions with Russia, according to Bartosz Grodecki, head of Poland’s National Security Bureau. The meeting was expected to include Nawrocki, Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and Gen. Wiesław Kukuła, chief of the Polish Armed Forces’ General Staff.Separately, EU ambassadors advanced a defense plan that includes five bloc-wide projects, each potentially worth tens of billions of euros, to strengthen Europe’s defense capacity. Ukraine is included in four of the five projects, with the space-related project as the lone exception.
