WBO middleweight champion Denzel Bentley has offered Conor Benn another chance to skip the queue and fight for a world title.Benn was blown away inside two rounds as he unsuccessfully challenged for Ryan Garcia‘s WBC welterweight title in Las Vegas.Benn came up short when he fought at world level against Garcia, who stopped in two roundsGetty‘The Destroyer’ was mandated to box for the green and gold strap after not competing at 147lbs in more than four years.Benn admitted to being “dragged to the pits of hell” by his torturous weight cut after spending much of 2025 piling on and maintaining 160lbs of mass to meet bitter rival Chris Eubank Jr at middleweight. The 29-year-old said before the Garcia fight that regardless of whether he won or lost, his next outing would be at either 160lbs or 168lbs.And Bentley, who was elevated from interim to full WBO champion in July, would relish the opportunity to welcome Benn back to middleweight. Denzel Bentley opens door to Conor Benn fight“It will be a great opportunity for me because it will be a big money fight commercially,” Bentley said during a recent appearance on talkSPORT’s talkBOXING podcast.“So I wouldn’t mind that fight at all. I think he will be a lot better with the extra weight on him.“Albeit, if he takes the right amount of time out to recover and be where he needs to be.“One of Conor’s key factors in his game is his physicality; he’s very physical, he likes to be in your face and use that.“He lost that 147[lbs]. I think at 160[lbs] it will help him out…“The only thing is, regardless of whether he’s physically fit or physically strong, those flaws will still be there, and they are there to be capitalised on.”Denzel Bentley is willing to welcome Benn back to 160lbsGettyWhen Spencer Oliver insisted that Benn was not a viable challenger for Bentley’s title, the WBO champion replied: “It’s the commercial value, and that’s all people care about nowadays. The game has changed.“That’s how I used to be, Spence; we have got to fight [the best].“When Jake Paul came along, I said, ‘Nah, I wouldn’t fight none of those guys’.“The game has changed. What do you want me to get left behind and not make a living?“You’re surprised by this, but I’m sure the WBC have walked into the ring and given Jake Paul a belt, or he’s been ranked as a cruiserweight.“There are worse things to be worried about than this.”Bentley will more than likely have to put his offer to Benn on hold, as the WBO recently made Cuban boogeyman Yoenli Hernandez his mandatory.Benn is also expected to take the rest of the year out.Watch Boxing on DAZN*If you click a link in this boxout, we will earn affiliate revenueSign up to DAZN to access the definitive subscription for boxing fans.Upgrade to DAZN Ultimate from just £24.99/month, guaranteeing access to 185+ fights annually, a minimum of 12 pay-per-views at no extra cost, as well as every Lega Serie A match and other elite football access.Alternatively, DAZN Standard is just £15.99/month, with the caveat you will have to pay for pay-per-view events.Click here to sign up.
