Djurgården has mounted a challenge for the Swedish title this autumn, coming from behind and currently sitting seven points behind Sirius. A major reason for the team's later success is Bo Hegland. Yesterday, Expressen revealed that Hegland has attracted interest over the summer and recently turned down an offer from the Belgian club RSC Anderlecht. This after also having been linked to the Premier League club Newcastle. Meanwhile, a very high-profile visitor was present at the Stockholmian arena when Djurgården defeated GAIS. Several sources report to Expressen that FC Barcelona was in attendance on Monday, only to scout Bo Hegland. In Monday's Allsvenskan match against GAIS, Hegland equaled the league record when he set up Kristian Lien for the opening goal — marking his 15th assist of the season. He now has nine games in hand to break the record. In the second half, the Norwegian also scored the decisive goal to make it 2–0. The La Liga club has previously been interested in talents playing in Allsvenskan. As recently as 2023, Barcelona attempted to sign Lucas Bergvall (also from Djurgården). The midfielder ultimately chose a more tailored offer from the Premier League side Tottenham. submitted by /u/Natural_North [link] [comments]
