Hotazhell, who registered his third Group 1 triumph when winning Saturday's Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown, will retire to Haras d'Etreham following his tilt at the G1 Qatar Racing Champion Stakes at Ascot next month.The son of Too Darn Hot will join the Normandy farm after being purchased in partnership with Antony Thompson of Widden Stud in Australia, where he will stand for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season.“Hotazhell has been a joy to train,” Jessica Harrington said of the six-time winner with career earnings of over £1.1 million. “He's tough, sound and consistent and, following his win in the Irish Champion Stakes, he has proven what we have always known; he's a brilliant racehorse.”Owned by the Silverton Hill Partnership, Hotazhell won four of his six starts as a juvenile, culminating with his breakthrough Group 1 success when beating Delacroix by a nose to win the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster.Though failing to add to his tally in five starts as a three-year-old, he continued to perform with credit at the top level, notably finishing third in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh and later being beaten less than two lengths when fourth in the Saratoga Derby Invitational Stakes.Having also finished fourth in last year's Irish Champion Stakes, Hotazhell returned to Leopardstown on Saturday to go three places better and claim the most prestigious prize of his career to date in beating Wimbledon Hawkeye and Constitution River in a thrilling finish. The family also includes the dual Gold Cup hero Royal Rebel (Robellino), another multiple Group 1 winner in Getaway (Monsun) and his Oaks d'Italia-winning full-sister Guadalupe.Initially sold at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 70,000gns, Hotazhell then returned to Park Paddocks for the Craven Breeze-up Sale where he was bought by the Silverton Hill Partnership for 200,000gns.Haras d'Etreham's Nicolas de Chambure added, “We are absolutely delighted at the prospect of welcoming a horse of Hotazhell's calibre to Etreham for the 2027 season.
