A colt by leading general sire Into Mischief (hip 242) lit up the board Tuesday with a new session-high $3.7-million purchase, selling to Coolmore's M.V. Magnier and Peter Brant's White Birch Farm.Out of the Bernardini mare Grazie Mille who has four winners from five to race, the colt is a half-brother to both GISW and sire Mo Town (Uncle Mo) and MSW/MGSP Justique (Justify), both of whom were 'TDN Rising Stars', along with SP Champagne Lady (Uncle Mo) and the dam of SW West Memorial (Caracaro).Bred in Kentucky by John D. Gunther and Eurowest Bloodstock, the colt was consigned Tuesday by Glennwood Farm.The $3.7-million final bid was the highest price at Keeneland September since a Curlin colt out of Cavorting brought $5-million in 2024.“He was just a big strong colt, tremendous walk and a great presence about him,” said Gunther. “And I've never had so much vet work done on a yearling ever. I mean, everybody loved this colt. And I wanted to stay in, of course, but that's not going to happen on this one. But I was lucky enough to stay in on Stage Magic's with Mr. Winchell (sold Monday). So I'm happy about that. But I mean, he's in good hands now. And they mentioned that he's going to stay in the US and race here.
