Darius Racing's Mahasti (Rubaiyat) made a breakthrough at Baden-Baden in her second start last month and continued on the upgrade with a wide-margin win in Sunday's Listed Grosser Junioren-Preis des Calenberger Kreditvereins at Hannover to become the first black-type winner for her freshman sire (by Areion).“She's a fantastic filly and I really wanted to run her in this race,” trainer Bohumil Nedorostek told GaloppOnline. “The other option would have been the [valuable] auction race in Dortmund, but I spoke with the racing manager Holger Faust and we quickly agreed that we should try coming here instead. She was in such good form after the Baden-Baden race, she had recovered from it so well that I was sure we would get black type here, or even a win. Now we're going to the [Oct. 18 G3 Preis der] Winterkonigin [at Baden-Baden].”The 14-5 second favourite raced keenly and tracked the leader under attempted restraint in second after breaking swiftly from the outside stall.
