Police suspect drowsy driving could have led to the crash.The deceased was identified as Kasakurti Jagadish, a neurosurgeon associated with Mamata Hospital in Khammam. He was travelling alone from Khammam towards Hyderabad to meet his family when the accident occurred near Pillalamarri at around 7.15 a.m.According to an officer from the Suryapet police, Dr. Jagadish was at the hospital till around 4 a.m. and set out for Hyderabad.As he reached the Khammam junction near Pillalamarri, the car reportedly went out of control and crashed into the divider separating the service road and the flyover.Eyewitnesses and others at the scene told police that the doctor was alone in the car when it rammed the divider. Following the impact, the luxury car caught fire and was rapidly engulfed in flames.Passers-by alerted the authorities, but the fire had spread through the vehicle before the driver could be rescued. The car was completely gutted and Dr. Jagadish’s body was charred in the fire.Police and Fire Department personnel reached the spot by around 7.30 a.m. and began an investigation. The identity of the deceased was established using the vehicle’s registration details.The preliminary investigation has raised suspicion that Dr. Jagadish may have fallen drowsy while driving, particularly as he had been at the hospital in the early hours before beginning the journey. Police, however, are yet to establish the exact cause of the crash.A forensic team collected the charred remains and preserved them for further examination.
