Alidu Seidu joins OGC Nice on loan September 18 2026, 06:30 PM 26-year-old defender Alidu Seidu has today joined OGC Nice on a season-long loan from Stade Rennais FC. Having been on the lookout for an experienced defender following the serious injuries suffered by Antoine Mendy and Moïse Bombito, Le Gym is delighted to register the arrival of the Ghana international, who has 25 caps to his name with the Black Stars. The powerful and versatile full-back, who is a well-known figure in Ligue 1 – where he has racked up a total of 106 appearances across his spells with Clermont and Rennes – “didn’t hesitate for a second” before joining Les Rouge et Noir. “I’d already spoken to the club during the summer,” Seidu explained. “In the end, I’ve joined slightly later than planned but with an enormous amount of motivation. I want to play, to be on the pitch and to help the team and the club. I can’t wait to get down to work, and I’m going to give everything to make sure that we have a good season together and to make the fans proud!” Maurice Cohen, OGC Nice president: “Alidu is a very good player with a great mentality, and we’re certain that he’ll adapt quickly and that he’s a perfect fit for what the coach wants to put in place. He’s in the prime of his life. I think that the fans will enjoy his style, and I know that he’ll do great things with Le Gym. Welcome, Alidu!” Roger Ricort, OGC Nice sporting director: “Alidu is able to play both centrally and on the wing, which will bolster our defence. He’s played at two World Cups (in 2022 and 2026) and is coming here to make a fresh start. We have every faith in him; he’s a calm, self-assured guy who has a good head on his shoulders. The fact that he speaks French well will help him to settle into the squad quickly, and he’ll soon be able to contribute his grit and his determination to the side. submitted by /u/MERTENS_GOAT [link] [comments]
