CGST Superintendent, mediator held in ₹8 lakh bribe trap - The HinduPublished - September 17, 2026 08:44 pm IST - BengaluruA Central GST (CGST) Superintendent and a private individual were arrested by the Bengaluru City Lokayukta police on Thursday for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹8-lakh bribe to close a complaint pending against a city-based businessman.The accused public servant has been identified as Mohit Pratap Singh, Superintendent, CGST, South Division-4, South Commissionerate. The second accused, Salman Sheikh, is a private individual who allegedly acted as a mediator in the transaction.According to the Lokayukta police, the duo allegedly demanded ₹8 lakh from Syed Zameer to close a complaint filed against him in connection with a pending Central GST matter.Based on Mr. Zameer’s complaint, the Bengaluru City Lokayukta team laid a trap at the chamber of the Superintendent at Kendriya Sadan in Koramangala, where the bribe was allegedly accepted.The Lokayukta police subsequently arrested the two accused.
