Close to one month since his first appearance of Juventus’ season, Weston McKennie looks set to make his return. McKennie returned to full training with the Bianconeri ahead of their UEFA Europa League opener on Thursday against Dutch side NEC Nijmegen. The U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder had been out of action since featuring in Juventus’ opening weekend 1-0 victory against Frosinone back on August 23. A muscle injury has forced McKennie to miss the last three matches in Luciano Spalletti’s squad, in which the Bianconeri have registered a 1-1-1 record over that span. Juventus defeated Parma 2-0 before tying AC Milan 1-1 and recently losing 3-2 to Sassuolo. McKennie’s return would be welcomed after he logged a career-best 52 appearances for the Bianconeri last season. The 28-year-old scored nine goals and registered six assists in all competitions as Juventus missed out on a top-four finish in Serie A. USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino will also be pleased for McKennie’s return, especially with his squad set for four international friendlies over the September-October windows.Juventus will seek a winning start to the UEL League Phase on Thursday before hosting Atalanta in its final league match before the break.
