A special NIA court in Jagdalpur has awarded the death penalty to ten convicts. These individuals were found guilty in the 2013 Jhiram Valley Maoist attack case. The attack resulted in the deaths of 29 people, including senior Congress leaders. Maoists ambushed a Congress rally ahead of state assembly elections on May 25, 2013. The probe into the incident was handed over to the NIA shortly after the attack.
