Resident Evil Director Zach Cregger Reveals His Pick to Play Lady Dimitrescu

Wait 5 sec.

Resident Evil director Zach Cregger has revealed which actress he would cast as a live-action Lady Dimitrescu — and we think he's made the perfect choice. To be clear, the iconic Lady D from 2021's Resident Evil Village does not appear in Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil movie, as it tells an original story. So, don't expect to see her or any other fan favorites up on the big screen. That said, Cregger is a self-confessed Resident Evil aficionado, and seems to clearly know who he'd cast if given the chance. "Christina Hendricks," Cregger said, when asked his pick for Lady D while in conversation with Pedestrian.TV. "That feels about right to me. What do you think?" Well, speaking personally, that seems like a solid call. The vampire-like Lady Dimitrscu stole the hearts of many Resident Evil fans back when Village launched, with many players attracted to her giant stature and femme fatale design. Countless pieces of fan art followed, some more erotic than others, and Capcom leant into her popularity by providing life-size cardboard cutouts of the character in video game stores.Even though Lady D hasn't returned to the series (so far), she remains a firm favorite — and notably her costume could be unlocked in this year's Resident Evil Requiem, if you stumped up for the game's Deluxe Edition.Could we see the character appear in a future Resident Evil film? While Cregger has taken flak from some fans for deciding to make an original take on the franchise, early buzz for the movie has been positive, and the box office projections look strong. Indeed, Cregger has already said he has ideas for potential sequels. Here's hoping Christina Hendricks is free.Image credit: Michael Kovac/Getty Images for Elton John AIDS Foundation
