Walt Disney World Resort is making some big changes in Toy Story Land.While Toy Story Land is a firm fixture at Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, it’s still less than 10 years old. The area was first announced at the D23 Expo in 2015, marking a major shift in the park’s transformation away from its original working studio concept. Woody’s Lunch Box also debuted with the land, while Roundup Rodeo BBQ was added later as its first table service restaurant.While the land has remained relatively untouched in terms of attractions, a big change is set to hit Alien Swirling Saucers.Disney Replacing Original Alien Swirling Saucers ConceptDisney today announced plans to replace the original concept of Alien Swirling Saucers.From September 25, Lilypad – the antagonist of Toy Story 5 (2026) – will take over the attraction as its DJ. Music has become a huge part of the attraction’s identity, with Disney cast members and guests regularly dancing along.That soundtrack has helped Baymax develop something of a cult following, with its dances spreading across social media and guests gathering around the attraction even when they are not riding. Alien Swirling Saucers’ new rotating soundtrack appears to be borrowing from that same formula, giving repeat rides more variation and personality.“Collaborating with our partners at Pixar Animation Studios to write for these characters and expand their stories is just pure joy,” said Geoff Line, Senior Story Lead at Walt Disney Imagineering. “We played with these toys as kids. Now we get to play with them as Imagineers. It doesn’t get better than that.”Fans Respond to Ride ChangeFans aren’t totally sold on the ride’s update.“PLEASE tell me this is temporary,” one wrote on X. “This sounds terrible. The OG music is really good.”Meanwhile, one made the point that the new overlay does not align with the land’s original theme. “Isn’t this Andy’s backyard?” they wrote. “He was a kid in like the 90s. There’s no reason he should own a lily pad. Even if they write this off, not the lily pad in the movie.”Or, as one fan put it, “In Andy’s backyard?
