We went out to dinner tonight, a place we go to all the time, and about halfway through my food he told me he's been seeing someone since around March. He said she's 14 weeks and keeping it, and then he said "I didn't want you to hear it from anyone else." I honestly think he was waiting for me to throw my drink at him. I didn't do anything like that. I asked him if it was the girl from his gym, which it was. I also asked if he was going to be in the baby's life, and he said he was. Then I said ok. I kept eating, and I think that freaked him out more than anything. I've been trying to figure out why I'm this calm and I think it's because I grew up in exactly this situation and I already know how every single part of it goes. My dad had a baby with someone else when I was 7. My mom stayed with him for 19 more years "for us", so me and my brother spent EVERY other Sunday in a fast food play area being polite to a little girl we didn't know. The adults meanwhile did the most passive aggressive shit you have ever seen. My mom cried in the car driving back pretty much every time. My half sister is lovely btw, none of it was ever her fault and it still isn't. So as soon as he said pregnant I knew I was done. I am not spending the next 18 years being the reasonable one at birthday parties. He asked if we could "at least talk about what this could look like." I told him no. We drove home without saying a word. He packed a bag and went to his brother's, so that's where he is right now. Crispy fried pork meat wrapped in pita wedges and yes I still ate them 🫠 submitted by /u/Comfortable_Fee1615 to r/GirlDinnerDiaries [link] [comments]
