Danish FMI Awards Spuhr Contract for New Grenade Launcher Sight Mount

Denmark's Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation, known domestically as Forsvarsministeriets Materiel- og Indkøbsstyrelse (FMI), has purchased a new Grenade Launcher Sight Mount (GLSM) from Swedish manufacturer Spuhr for use across the Danish Army's grenade launcher inventory. According to FMI, the acquisition is intended to raise hit probability across multiple launcher and ammunition types currently in service. FMI states that the new sight replaces several older, launcher-specific sighting systems with a single mount that can be configured for different weapon and ammunition combinations, including future ones not yet fielded. Spuhr's GLSM line works by pairing a red dot or similar optic with a ballistic bow calibrated to the exterior ballistics of a specific launcher and ammunition type, according to information published on Spuhr's own product pages. That bow provides range settings, commonly out to 350 meters on the company's HE low-velocity mounts, with tritium or luminous inserts at set range marks for use in low light. Spuhr also describes its GLSM mounts as fully ambidextrous, allowing the sight to be moved from one side of the launcher to the other without additional parts.Colonel Thomas Øgendahl Knudsen, head of FMI's Land Division and involved in the acquisition, is quoted by FMI as saying the new sight gives Danish forces a different kind of flexibility for achieving hit probability across their grenade launchers, and that it will reduce the need for specialized equipment across the different launcher and ammunition types the Danish Armed Forces operate.FMI ties the sight purchase to the Army's 2025 acquisition of new grenade launchers, which were bought to replace weapons donated to Ukraine. With both the launchers and the sights updated, FMI states the goal is a more streamlined training pipeline for soldiers learning to operate grenade launchers, since only one sighting system will need to be taught going forward instead of several older ones. FMI expects the new sights to be issued to troops starting in early 2027, timed to reach units alongside the newer launchers already in the field.
