Credit: Jackson Memorial Hospital / WPLGHorrifying surveillance footage emerged on Tuesday showing the moment a helpless ER nurse was brutally beaten by a deranged male patient with hospital security nowhere in sight.Back on May 30, emergency room nurse Yanira Eguileor was walking the halls of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami when she noticed him beating a female colleague of hers, patient finance staffer Tisa Wolf, and tried to stop him.The unhinged man, later identified by police as Wenyou Rubin, then turned his attention to Eguileor. The surveillance footage, which was first obtained by WSVN, shows the man violently bashing the nurse in the head three times before throwing her to the floor.Eguileor’s colleagues then rush to her aid and place the angry patient on the ground. She is later treated by her co-workers, who performed multiple tests and scans of her injuries.Hospital security finally arrived after the staff had already restrained the thug. During the interview, she revealed that she had filed a $5 million lawsuit against Jackson Memorial Hospital for its negligence.She also shared details of the attack, which match the surveillance video.“I heard a loud scream from one of the staff members, a female,” Eguileor said. “I turned around, and this man is running after her, toward the nurse’s station.“That’s when I turned around, and I went towards them, and he was about to strike her, and I said, ‘No! Don’t hit her,” she continued. “He turned around, and he punched me.”Eguileor’s attorney, Michael Pizzi, told WSVN that the attack was so vicious that nurses could have been killed.“You have a career trauma nurse, knocked semi-unconscious, could’ve been killed, just lying on the floor with no protections while this guy continues to ransack the trauma ward,” he told CBS News.Pizzi also revealed to WSVN he had to file a SECOND lawsuit to get Jackson Health System to hand over the surveillance footage of the attack. His first civil lawsuit cited a lack of workplace security.He also attacked the hospital’s lackluster response.“Police never showed up, and security showed up after it was over and the damage was done,” Pizzi explained.WSVN notes that Rubin has a pending criminal case from 2024, where he was charged with battery on an officer.In even more infuriating news, the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office DROPPED charges against Rubin in the Jackson attack, allegedly due to not being able to make immediate contact with hospital staff victims.Thankfully, thanks to WSVN’s story on the attack, Rubin has been recharged.
