Malta welcomed close to half a million tourists in July alone, as inbound tourism jumped by more than 20% compared to the same month last year.A total of 489,494 inbound tourists were estimated to have visited Malta during July 2026, marking a 20.8% increase over July 2025.Visitors spent a combined 3.19 million nights in Malta during the month, with the overwhelming majority, 88.4% spent in rented accommodation establishments.Tourist spending also reached significant levels, with total expenditure during July estimated at €538.4 million.The figures build on a strong first seven months of the year for Malta’s tourism sector.Between January and July 2026, Malta welcomed an estimated 2,621,319 inbound tourists, who collectively spent around 14.9 million nights in the country.Total tourist expenditure over those seven months reached an estimated €2.334 billion, while expenditure per tourist stood at €890.The July figures mean Malta saw roughly 84,000 more inbound tourists than during the corresponding month in 2025.What do you make of these statistics?•
