Scientists have discovered a massive crater on the Moon that formed after an asteroid or comet fragment struck the lunar surface in 2024. Measuring about 728 feet across, it is the largest known recent lunar impact crater and is three times larger than the previous record-holder, bigger than Rome's Colosseum. The discovery could help scientists understand lunar soil and assess risks to future Moon bases.
