Darley America's Nyquist remained among the most popular stallions during the first two books and he was represented by his seventh seven-figure transaction Thursday afternoon when West Point Thoroughbreds' Terry Finley signed the ticket on hip 973 for $2 million. Finley was doing his bidding on behalf of the active partnership with St. Elias Stable, Lane's End Racing and Belladonna Racing.“We are really excited to acquire the colt,” said Monique Delk, advisor to Vinnie Viola's St. Elias Stable. “He was a standout for us. He's by the right sire, amazing physical and with a beautiful walk. He is the whole package. We are really excited to be able to acquire him.”When asked about the price, Delk added: “We just approach each book with a lot of discipline, a real strict criteria. We don't necessarily have a number, we are just pretty disciplined in our buying.”The bay was bred by the partnership of Betz Thoroughbreds, J Betz, D J Stable, Epona and Lamantia and was offered through the Betz Thoroughbred draft.
