Globetrotting superstar Forever Young (Jpn) (Real Steel {Jpn}) was brought out for a graze in front of appreciative fans and members of the media Saturday morning by assistant trainer Yuki Araki, and has reportedly emerged from his sterling GI Jockey Club Gold Cup victory tired, but in fine form.Araki, who also gallops Forever Young, had glowing praise for Japan's greatest dirt horse and wasn't shy about expressing it, saying, “I'm proud of him. 100 percent, no doubt, he is a Champion horse. I was really, really pleased with the result and also his performance. I'm very happy.”“He's good this morning, a little bit tired, I can tell, but he is doing well.”Forever Young is expected to return to training early next week, and will likely utilize both the training dirt track and the pony track after previously training over the Tapeta and main track in his prep for the Gold Cup. Thus far, he remains on target for a title defense in the GI Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland next month.“I really want to thank Belmont Park and all the American fans,” said Araki. “It was a real special moment. I realize he is not just a horse for Japan, but a horse for everyone.”In the Bill Mott barn, second and third-place finishers Stars and Stripes (Not This Time) and Baeza (McKinzie) have also emerged from their effort no worse for wear.“They look good,” said the Hall of Famer. “All looks pretty good for running a mile and a quarter race.”Stars and Stripes entered the race off a cutback in distance from the marathon Birdstone Stakes and was the longest shot on the board for his elite-level debut.“I was really pleased with his race,” Mott said. “I think he showed up big time yesterday. No way he was going to outrun Forever Young, but he showed up. He beat the other ones in the race and had to run hard to do that.
