The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has urged university students to embrace critical thinking, verify information before sharing it, and use digital platforms responsibly.The call was made during the orientation for Season 4 of the Ultimate University Quiz, held at the International Business, Science and Technology University (ISBAT) in Kampala.The orientation brought together students, organisers and partners ahead of a new season of the university competition, which seeks to promote learning, intellectual engagement and healthy competition among university students.The initiative is supported by several partners, including the Bank of Uganda (BoU), New Vision, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Turkish Airlines and UCC.Representing UCC, James Tumusiime, Manager of Public and International Relations, highlighted the Commission’s interest in engaging young people, who constitute a major segment of users of communication and digital services.Tumusiime encouraged students to take an active role in their education while developing the ability to critically assess information they encounter, particularly online.He also urged participants to verify information before sharing it and to exercise responsibility when using digital platforms.According to Tumusiime, students should also pay attention to their digital footprints, noting that information shared online can remain associated with individuals long after their university years.The Ultimate University Quiz provides students with an opportunity to test their knowledge while developing skills in critical thinking, confidence and communication.The Season 4 orientation marks the beginning of preparations for another edition of the competition, bringing universities together for a season centred on knowledge, learning and intellectual engagement.The initiative is also aligned with broader efforts to equip young people with skills for responsible participation in Uganda’s increasingly digital society.The post UCC Urges University Students to Think Critically and Protect Their Digital Footprints was written by the awesome team at Campus Bee.
