If you have ever earned a digital achievement in the Play Disney Parks app, today is your last chance to look at it.That sounds like a small thing, and for most guests it will be. But there is a specific kind of Disney fan who has been collecting these for years, checking off Fab 50 statues across Walt Disney World, hacking door panels in Batuu, and building up a progress log that represents dozens of park days. All of that lives behind a login that stops working in less than 24 hours.Disney announced this a month ago, which means most people have had time to prepare. Most people also forgot, because a shutdown a month out does not feel urgent until it does.It is urgent now.The Play Disney Parks app permanently retires on September 16, 2026. That is tomorrow. Here is exactly what disappears, what survives, and what you can still do today.Credit: DisneyWhat Happens TomorrowOn September 16, the app will be removed from app stores, and users will no longer be able to log in.That second part is the one that matters most. This is not a case where the app stays on your phone and simply stops updating. Once the login goes, your saved progress and achievements go with it.If you want to save anything, you need to open the app and capture it before tomorrow. Screenshots are the only realistic option, and there is no export function. After more than eight years, that is the firm cutoff. What Is Going Away PermanentlyThe biggest confirmed loss is Star Wars: Datapad.Disney introduced the Datapad alongside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in August 2019, and it essentially turned a guest’s phone into an in-universe device while exploring Batuu.Guests could use it to:Hack door panels throughout the landScan cargo cratesTranslate the fictional Aurebesh language found on signageInteract with certain screens and physical elements around Galaxy’s EdgeWhen Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opened later in 2019, Disney expanded the Datapad with two additional experiences tied to that attraction’s storyline. All of it retires tomorrow, and Disney has not announced a replacement. That means guests visiting Galaxy’s Edge after tomorrow will have fewer ways to interact with the land than visitors have had at any point since 2019. For a land built specifically around the idea that you are a traveler on Batuu rather than a tourist in Florida, that is a real loss.Credit: Subhash Roy, FlickrWhat SurvivesNot everything disappears, and the distinction matters.Batuu Bounty Hunters remains available. The experience uses MagicBand+ and screens located throughout Galaxy’s Edge, and while its app component goes away tomorrow, the rest keeps operating normally.MagicBand+ interactions also continue working, including interactions with the Fab 50 statues at Walt Disney World. So if you have been tapping Fab 50 statues with a MagicBand+, that still works. What goes away is the Disney Fab 50 Quest within the app, which lets you check off every statue you have interacted with and track the collection. The interaction survives. The scorecard does not.The DuckTales QuestionDuckTales World Showcase Adventure is the unresolved piece. The EPCOT experience has already been unavailable for several weeks due to refurbishment work, and when asked about its future alongside the Play Disney Parks retirement, Disney said there is no information to share at this time. That is genuinely ambiguous, and it is worth being careful about.Disney has not confirmed the experience is permanently closing. But Disney also has not explained how it would operate without the app that currently runs it.Guests should not assume tomorrow’s shutdown automatically ends DuckTales World Showcase Adventure. There simply is no confirmed answer yet, and anyone stating otherwise is guessing.Credit: DisneyWhat the App WasIt helps to remember what Disney was attempting here.Play Disney Parks was announced in April 2018 and launched June 28, 2018, alongside the opening of Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The original lineup included queue games connected to Toy Story Mania, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, and Slinky Dog Dash, plus trivia and digital achievements.Credit: DisneyDisney kept expanding it through 2018 and 2019. Activities appeared at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Sponsored games were introduced near what used to be Splash Mountain and at EPCOT’s Kidcot locations. For a limited time, Disney even let guests convert certain digital achievements into physical collectible pins. The premise was ambitious. Rather than treating a smartphone as a distraction competing with the park, Disney tried to make the phone part of the attraction itself. Why It Is EndingUpdates slowed considerably after 2020 as Disney shifted attention toward My Disney Experience. That app now handles an enormous share of a Walt Disney World vacation. Wait times, park maps, dining reservations, mobile ordering, Lightning Lane selections, and resort check-in all live there.Play Disney Parks increasingly felt like a separate platform sitting outside Disney’s primary planning ecosystem, and separate platforms are expensive to maintain for features most guests never opened. There is also a broader tension worth naming. Disney has spent recent years acknowledging that phone use in the parks has become excessive. An app whose entire premise is looking at your phone while standing in a themed queue sits awkwardly against that. What to Do TodayPractically speaking, you have hours.Open the app and screenshot your achievements if any of them matter to you. There is no other way to keep them.Do not delete the app expecting to reinstall later. It comes out of app stores tomorrow. If you are in a park today, this is your last day to use the Datapad in Galaxy’s Edge. That is a genuinely unusual last-chance opportunity. And if you never used it, that is fine too. Play Disney Parks was always a niche feature that a small percentage of guests engaged with deeply, and most walked past entirely.Tomorrow it goes quiet after eight years.Source: Disney’s announcement regarding the September 16, 2026 retirement of Play Disney Parks. The post Reminder: Disney World Perk Ends Tomorrow, Login Access Lost appeared first on Inside the Magic.
