A woman was reportedly hit three times by hunting pellets while walking two dogs in the Selmun countryside, prompting condemnation from BirdLife Malta.According to a social media post by the dogs’ owner, the woman was walking them at around 6.30am in the Il-Qortin area, above Triq l-Imġiebaħ, when the incident occurred.The owner claimed hunters fired in her direction, hitting her once in the arm and twice in the back, leaving both her and the dogs in shock. She subsequently filed a police report, while the incident was also reported to the Malta Rangers Unit.BirdLife Malta expressed solidarity with the woman, saying “people have a right to walk in Malta’s countryside without being shot at”.The organisation described the reported incident as “grave and deeply unfair”, while accusing Malta of years of weakened enforcement and laws.
