911 service resuming across Ontario following early-morning outages

911 service across Ontario and elsewhere in Canada is getting back to normal after reported outages early Thursday morning.The outages were first reported around 4:30 a.m.Toronto Police say its 911 service is being restored after a brief outage. They say residents can now call 911 for all police, fire and medical emergencies.UPDATE: 9-1-1 service is now being restored.Please call 9-1-1 for all police, fire and medical emergencies.Call 416-808-2222 for all non-emergencies.— Toronto Police Operations (@TPSOperations) September 17, 2026 The Ontario Provincial Police says it’s still working to fix the problem and are urging people to use the non-emergency line to contact emergency services.Other GTA services, including York Regional Police and the Durham Regional Police Service, also reported an issue earlier Thursday morning but say 911 service has returned.Brief outages were also reported in Quebec and Winnipeg.It’s not yet known what led to the outages.
