Olivier Award winner and Tony nominee Layton Williams is heading to Malta for the first time to lead a one-off musical theatre workshop in Valletta this October.The West End and Broadway star will host the public workshop on Saturday 31st October, with anyone aged 16 and over welcome to participate, regardless of their level of performance experience.Williams will arrive in Malta fresh from his performance as King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium and his Tony-nominated role as the Iceberg in Titanique on Broadway. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)The latter role also earned him the 2025 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical when Titanique, a parody of Titanic featuring the music of Céline Dion, played at London’s Criterion Theatre.Williams made his West End debut at just 12 years old in the title role of Billy Elliot The Musical, before going on to star in productions including Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Cabaret. He is also known for Bad Education and reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2023.The workshop is being brought to Malta by Finesse Events, led by producer Jo Caruana, following the company’s recent staging of musical comedy String V SPITTA in Malta.“Layton coming here is the next step. He is one of the most accomplished musical theatre performers of his generation, and he is known to be very generous with his talents,” Caruana said.“For anyone in Malta who performs, or wants to, this is a rare chance to learn from the very best.”Williams said he was looking forward to working with local performers during his first visit to Malta.“This will be my first time working in Malta and I can’t wait.
