Treasury officer and assistant caught taking ₹1 lakh bribe in Rangareddy - The HinduPublished - September 17, 2026 06:37 pm IST - HYDERABADSub-Treasury Officer Madiga Laxmaiah and Assistant Treasury Officer Kavali Anuradha and their associate Vadde Jangaiah. | Photo Credit: By ArrangementA Sub-Treasury Officer, an Assistant Treasury Officer and a private person were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting ₹1 lakh as part payment of a ₹2.50 lakh bribe in Rangareddy district on Thursday.The accused were identified as Sub-Treasury Officer Madiga Laxmaiah and Assistant Treasury Officer Kavali Anuradha both working at the Divisional Sub-Treasury Office in Chevella, and one Vadde Jangaiah.According to the ACB, Laxmaiah and Anuradha allegedly demanded ₹2.50 lakh from the complainant and accepted ₹1 lakh as part payment. Laxmaiah allegedly received ₹50,000 as his share, while Jangaiah, acting on Anuradha’s instructions, received the remaining ₹50,000 from the complainant.The ACB said the bribe was allegedly sought as a reward for processing and forwarding the complainant’s suspension-period salary bills amounting to ₹23,25,390 and post-retirement pension adjustment arrears of ₹4,29,000.The ₹1 lakh allegedly paid as bribe was recovered from Laxmaiah and Jangaiah at their instance, the agency said.The ACB alleged that the two Treasury officials had performed their duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage.All three accused are being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
