Petrol pump dealers in Madhya Pradesh will stop accepting UPI payments above Rs 2,000 from October 16, citing a proposed 0.4 per cent Merchant Discount Rate (MDR). Fuel retailers say their narrow profit margins make it difficult to absorb the additional cost. Customers can continue to use debit and credit cards for fuel purchases, while the association has urged the government to extend existing MDR exemptions to UPI transactions.
