He was arrested on the basis of a complaint by a Panavoor native who had approached the Nedumangad police station for documents related to a road accident that occurred in March in order to claim compensation.Biju purportedly demanded that the paperwork be routed through a lawyer of his choice, despite the complainant having a different legal representative. The officer then contacted the lawyer directly, demanding a bribe of ₹10,000 to hand over the case documents.The complainant subsequently informed the VACB authorities who laid a trap.
