normalnormalnormalSubmits separate letters seeking UTCA’s elevation to Full Membership and infrastructure support for five school grounds, raises indoor stadium land issueChandigarh, September 18, 2026: Founder President of the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) Sanjay Tandon attended the 95th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Friday.During the AGM, Tandon raised several issues concerning the development of cricket in Chandigarh including the proposed BCCI-sanctioned indoor stadium, UTCA’s elevation from Associate Member to Full Member of the BCCI and infrastructure requirements for five school cricket grounds.The most significant submission was a detailed letter to the BCCI Secretary seeking Full Membership for UTCA. The letter highlighted the Association’s achievements and development over the past seven years since it received BCCI affiliation in August 2019.The letter stated that UTCA has consistently participated in BCCI domestic competitions across age groups and formats and has made substantial progress in player development, competitive cricket, grassroots programmes, infrastructure and hosting of BCCI matches.It highlighted that several players have represented India at the U-19 level and in major domestic and franchise competitions, including the IPL and WPL. The Association has also conducted the Chandigarh Premier League for four consecutive seasons and its Gully Cricket initiative has provided competitive exposure to more than 16,000 players.UTCA has also successfully hosted more than 225 BCCI matches in Chandigarh over the years and is scheduled to host around 55 BCCI matches during 2026-27. The letter further outlined the strengthening of cricket infrastructure and administration in Chandigarh, including the development of facilities in collaboration with the Chandigarh Administration and schools.In a separate letter, Tandon sought BCCI support for essential equipment for the five cricket grounds being developed in collaboration with schools.
