India will face import restrictions on EU metal waste starting May 2027. The European Commission proposed this new law, affecting aluminium scrap shipments. This move follows the Commission abandoning a previous export duty plan on aluminium scrap. Thirty-two non-OECD nations applied for exemptions for non-hazardous waste categories. Exemptions require proof of environmentally sound treatment of the waste materials.
