That doesn’t change the situation for someone visiting today.Neither attraction is available, and Hollywood Drift isn’t ready to replace them yet.A Classic Universal Experience Remains Behind Closed DoorsAnother longtime attraction is missing, but this one should eventually return.Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show closed in May 2026 for a major reimagining. The attraction has been part of Universal Studios Florida since its opening year and has become known for blending comedy with practical horror effects.Universal is expected to bring the experience back in winter 2026.Until then, guests won’t be able to see it.The closure becomes more noticeable because Universal Studios Florida has already lost other attractions. And over at Islands of Adventure, another major ride has been unavailable for most of 2026.Credit: UniversalOne Major Ride Has Been Missing Nearly All YearJurassic Park River Adventure closed on January 5 for an unusually long refurbishment.Universal scheduled the attraction to remain unavailable until November 2026, making this more significant than its typical seasonal maintenance.The ride remains one of the signature experiences inside Jurassic Park. Its massive final drop has made it one of Islands of Adventure’s most recognizable attractions.Visitors arriving before its scheduled November return simply won’t have it as an option.At least guests can plan around that closure.Another Islands of Adventure ride has created a different problem.Credit: UniversalAn Unexpected Problem Has Taken Another Headliner OfflineSkull Island: Reign of Kong has joined the list of unavailable attractions following an unexpected extended shutdown.Universal confirmed that the massive King Kong animatronic sustained damage during routine maintenance and is undergoing repairs.The company has said it looks forward to welcoming guests back once repairs are complete, but it hasn’t announced a reopening date.Unlike Jurassic Park River Adventure, this wasn’t a lengthy refurbishment scheduled months in advance. Universal also hasn’t said how long repairs will take.For Islands of Adventure, losing Kong while River Adventure is unavailable removes two sizable attractions from the park.More Closures Could Still Affect Upcoming TripsThese five attractions aren’t necessarily the end of the story.Refurbishment calendars can change. Attractions can experience unexpected technical problems, reopening dates can move, and Universal already has additional closures planned.Animal Actors On Location! will permanently close at Universal Studios Florida after its final performances on November 2, 2026.
