BJP challenges KCR, Revanth to reveal assets before and after power - The HinduUpdated - September 18, 2026 07:39 pm IST - HYDERABADTelangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao demanded that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy publicly disclose their assets before and after assuming power to dispel concerns over alleged illegal assets accumulation.Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Friday, Mr. Rao said that Mr. Revanth Reddy himself had stated in the Assembly that the previous BRS government under KCR had “looted Nizam’s wealth and poor people’s lands” and was involved in the alleged encroachment of nearly 500 acres of valuable land.At the same time, BRS leaders have accused the Congress government of being involved in large-scale land irregularities by allegedly taking over private properties under the guise of the ‘22A’ prohibited lands list, he said.In view of the allegations and counter allegations exchanged by the Congress and BRS, Mr. Rao said that both leaders should be transparent about their landholdings and assets. He suggested that they make public the details of their personal and family assets, comparing declarations made before entering politics with their present asset values.The BJP leader also called for a comprehensive inquiry into the land grab allegations raised on the floor of the Legislative Assembly. “The investigation should not be confined to the alleged 500-acre land scam during the previous BRS regime, but should also cover allegations of land grabbing under the ‘22A’ prohibited list during the Congress government,” he said.Accusing both governments of focusing more on “personal and family interests than public welfare”, Mr. Rao said the BJP would maintain its independent political course and contest future elections on its own. Expressing confidence about the party’s prospects in Telangana, he said, the BJP would form the next government and once in power, the party would order a thorough probe into the alleged “land loot” under both the previous and present governments and bring those responsible to justice.Mr. Rao also condemned both the BRS and Congress for praising the Nizam and bypassing the atrocities committed during the Nizam’s rule before ‘Operation Polo’, the military action launched under the leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that led to the integration of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union.Published - September 18, 2026 07:36 pm ISTSign in to unlock member-only benefits!Access 10 free stories every monthSave stories to read laterAccess to comment on every storySign-up/manage your newsletter subscriptions with a single clickGet notified by email for early access to discounts & offers on our products${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
