Four cat shelters have been completely destroyed by a fire in Ġnien tal-Fuklar, Ħ’Attard, with a local animal group saying it believes the blaze was deliberately started.Ħ’Attard Stray Animal Support Group said it was alerted to the fire this morning, around a year after the shelters were installed with permission from the local council.Residents reportedly acted quickly after noticing the blaze, particularly as cars were parked nearby and the situation could have escalated further. Firefighters responded and extinguished the flames, but all four shelters were destroyed.Thankfully, the group said the stray cats in the area were unharmed.A police report has now been filed, with the group appealing for anyone who may have witnessed something suspicious to come forward. It said it believes the fire was not accidental and hopes whoever was responsible can be identified.Anyone with information is being urged to contact the group so it can be passed on to police.•
