Earthquakes in the Campi Flegrei area during 6-13 Sep 2026 (image: INGV)The Campania regional government published implementation details on 14 September 2026 for an initial €7.1 million emergency plan addressing the effects of seismic activity in the Campi Flegrei area.Measures include assistance for vulnerable residents, free transport for affected students, temporary support for maritime transport, improvements at Pozzuoli port, consolidation work on the Astroni slope, expanded emergency and community health capacity, and accommodation assistance. Four affected municipalities will each receive €525,000 from a €2.1 million component of the plan.A separate €750,000 housing measure is intended to encourage regulated-rent leases for households whose homes were evacuated or declared uninhabitable following the seismic events of 31 July–1 August. Eligible landlords can receive a fixed payment of €2,500 plus an additional component linked to municipal property tax. Applications will be administered by Bacoli, Monte di Procida, Naples and Pozzuoli.Latest monitoring dataOverall, volcanic activity has been relatively low, with no significant changes recorded. The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) recorded 31 earthquakes at Campi Flegrei during 7–13 September, locating 17 events with magnitudes (Md) of 0.0 or above. The strongest had a magnitude (Md) of 1.7±0.3.Ground uplift in the area of maximum deformation continued at an average rate of about 10±3 mm per month, unchanged since early February 2026. Geochemical observations remained within the established long-term trends of heating and increased fluid flux, while the BG fumarole at Solfatara had an average temperature of about 173°C.INGV reported no monitoring evidence indicating a significant short-term evolution of the volcanic system.
