Hosting four Breeders' Cup Challenge Series races on the same day for the first time proved to be a lucrative draw not just for racing connections, but also for the betting public as Woodbine's Turf Champions Day generated a record handle of over $14-million over the course of the 12-race card, the track announced Monday morning.The event returned to the E.P. Taylor Turf Course for the first time since the course underwent extensive renovations, and generated an event record all-source total handle of $14,013,429. The total figure includes the Woodbine $5 Stakes Pick-3, which is identified as a separate card in tote systems. The prior mark was set in 2021 when handle hit $13.8-million.The Challenge Series races were topped by international star Notable Speech (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and his defense of his GI Woodbine Mile crown over fellow 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' Deterministic (Liam's Map). The reigning Breeders' Cup Mile champion collected his return trip for the contest.The GI E.P. Taylor Stakes hailed the crowning of South African superstar Gimme a Nother (SAf) (Gimmethegreenlight {SAf}) as a Grade I winner in North America as well as a multiple Grade 1 heroine in her home country. The GI Summer Stakes was again collected by the Godolphin team when Al Hudaiba (GB) (Dark Angel {Ire}) swooped in for the win and the GI Natalma Stakes went to Voyager (Justify) for owner D.J.
