Witness testimony has officially begun in the jury trial of Yorgen Fenech, with Assistant Police Commissioner Keith Arnaud taking the stand as the first witness.Arnaud, the lead police investigator in the assassination of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and a key prosecutor in the case, has just begun his testimony before the court.The prosecution, defence lawyers and parte civile are all present in the courtroom, while the jurors have taken their seats. Proceedings are being presided over by Judge Edwina Grima.Fenech is facing charges of complicity in the wilful homicide of Daphne Caruana Galizia, as well as criminal association to commit her murder.The trial entered its third day after prosecutors spent much of Thursday outlining what they described as the chronology of the plot that led to the journalist’s assassination in October 2017.•
