Nevertheless, a few of their players stood out, with Cody Gakpo one of the few to impress after scoring three goals in four appearances. The Liverpool forward has been linked with a move to Tottenham, with reports last month naming Spurs as one of the clubs showing interest in Gakpo. Tottenham remain in the market for a wide forward and have been linked with several players this summer, including Rafael Leao, Savinho and Gakpo’s Dutch teammate Crysencio Summerville.Photo by Julian Finney/Getty ImagesTottenham interest in Cody Gakpo clarifiedFabrizio Romano has now provided an update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Gakpo following reports of interest from Spurs. The transfer expert explained that while Tottenham do hold an interest, nothing is advanced at this stage and no contact has been made with Liverpool. Romano stressed that the Merseyside club are not currently open to an exit, but hinted that the situation could change later in the summer depending on Tottenham’s next move.Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Keep an eye on Tottenham for Cody Gakpo, because Tottenham have interest in the player.“I can tell you that Liverpool, as of today, beginning of July, are not opening doors to an exit. So, at the moment, Liverpool are not telling Gakpo, ‘Okay, you can leave’, are not telling Tottenham, ‘Okay, let us negotiate’. This is not happening now.“So, at the moment, the door is closed from Liverpool. But we have to see later on this summer, in case Tottenham really open talks by sending a proposal. At the moment, it is an interest. If they send a proposal, we have to see what is going to happen there.“So, it is a story to keep an eye on eventually. It is not something guaranteed at this stage.”Spurs wide forward options comparedWith Tottenham linked to several wide players this summer, Spurs Web has carried out a comparison piece between Savinho and Summerville. We analysed the goals, assists and underlying numbers of the two players across their last two seasons, with the data pointing to Summerville as the stronger option at present.Throwing Gakpo into the mix makes for interesting reading, as the Liverpool man outperformed both in terms of Premier League goals and assists last season. Gakpo registered seven goals and five assists from 36 appearances, compared to Savinho’s one goal and two assists, and Summerville’s five goals and four assists.PlayerAppearancesGoalsAssistsYellow cardsSecond yellow cardsRed cardsMinutes playedSavinho (Premier League 25/26)24122––821Summerville (Premier League 25/26)31546––2,484Cody Gakpo (Premier League 25/26)36753––2,749READ MORE: Tottenham handed major Rafael Leao transfer boost after contacting AC MilanThe post ‘Keep an eye on Tottenham for Cody Gakpo’ – Fabrizio Romano reveals interesting update appeared first on Spurs Web.
