Douglas Lwanga has shared his thoughts on the realities facing young Ugandans, arguing that the country’s education system and job market leave many people spending the best years of their lives without achieving financial stability.Speaking on Sanyuka TV’s Bigenda Bitya, Lwanga explained that a typical Ugandan spends about 17 years in primary and secondary school before adding another three to four years at university. After graduation, many still face years of unemployment while searching for their first job.You spend about 17 years in primary and secondary and three or four years at university, and then you start looking for a job, which will likely take you another few years in Uganda. He questioned whether entry-level salaries are enough to help young professionals achieve major milestones such as owning a home, noting that even with consistent income, it could take another five years or more to save enough. Why many Ugandan youths misuse government funding – Douglas LwangaAt that age, do you think they are going to pay you a salary that can build you a house? Let’s imagine you need five years to buy your first house. You’ll find yourself at 35 or 36 with the true realization of life and reaping, and that’s if God blesses you, and those are the fewest. The television host concluded by calling for more intentional education reforms in Uganda. He argued that students spend too many years studying subjects that have little practical value in their future careers, urging policymakers to introduce a more skills-based education system that prepares learners for employment and entrepreneurship at an earlier stage.Douglas Lwanga breaks down the harsh reality of growing up in today’s economy.#SanyukaBigendaBitya #SanyukaUpdates #FfeBannoDdala pic.twitter.com/gPY7dSs4E7— Sanyuka TV (@sanyukatv) July 3, 2026The post Ugandan education system fails to deliver financial stability, says Douglas Lwanga appeared first on MBU.
