Addressing a press conference here, R. Kesavan, former DGM, IndianOil; M. Arun, an IndianOil dealer; and N.S. Krishnamoorthi, an entrepreneur, said ethanol benefited farmers as it kept away insects, and did not cause damage to vehicles. Countries such as the U.S., Brazil, Canada, and Thailand too used ethanol-blended petrol, the representatives said, adding that sugar cane juice was not mixed to create such fuel.
