Art lovers have been given a little more time to catch a major Ġużeppi Briffa retrospective in Gozo after its run was extended following what organisers described as “unprecedented demand”.Reluctant Modernism: The Art of Ġużeppi Briffa, currently showing at Il-Ħaġar Museum, will now remain open until Sunday 13th September.The exhibition brings together works loaned by private collectors alongside ecclesiastical and public institutions, offering visitors an extensive look at Briffa’s artistic legacy.To mark the end of the exhibition, Il-Ħaġar will also host a special closing event at 11am on Saturday 12th September.Exhibition curator Dr Christian Attard will deliver a public talk, joined by Nadette Xuereb and artist and art educator Tony Sciberras.Together, they will explore Briffa’s body of work, with particular attention being given to 30 pieces featured in the retrospective.The closing event is completely free, although anyone planning to attend is encouraged to reserve a seat by emailing the museum.Meanwhile, collectors looking to take a piece of the exhibition home with them might want to move quickly, with Il-Ħaġar saying only a handful of copies remain of the accompanying catalogue, the 39th publication in its Il-Ħaġar Gems series.The extension was also made possible after the collectors and institutions behind the loaned works agreed to keep them at the museum for the additional period.So if the exhibition has been sitting on your cultural to-do list, this is officially your last chance to catch it before it closes on 13th September.Share with someone who’d be interested!•
