ES CME Outlook: Week 37 - 38 (September 7 – September 18, 2026)E-mini S&P 500 FuturesCME_MINI:ES1!Vitaly-WawES CME | Rate-Driven Valuation Shock: The Path to the Rebalancing Zone MARKET THESIS The E-mini S&P 500 is currently navigating a Rate-Driven Valuation Shock. We are observing a significant divergence in positioning: Managed Money (COT) is increasingly bullish, while institutional options flow remains heavily defensive, reflected in elevated Put/Call ratios. This creates a “Tension Regime” — the market remains structurally vulnerable to the downside while still being susceptible to violent short-term liquidity squeezes. THE STRUCTURAL MAP Price is trading within a descending channel. The primary question is whether ES can reclaim the 7,765 level (Upside Decision Area) or succumb to the “Vacuum Effect,” pulling price toward the 7,500–7,600 Decision Zone. EXECUTION SCENARIOS Scenario A: Short the Failed Retest — Primary The highest-probability setup is a test of the Upside Decision Area at 7,750–7,765. I am looking for a Failed Auction, where price pushes into the zone but fails to gain acceptance. Trigger: Price enters 7,750–7,765 → rejection/absorption → short the failed retest. Targets: 7,712 → 7,660 → 7,600 Scenario B: Breakout Long — Secondary If ES breaks and holds above 7,765, the immediate bearish thesis is invalidated. This would activate the bullish speculative positioning reflected in the COT data and could trigger a short-covering rally. Trigger: Reclaim above 7,765 → acceptance → successful retest as support. Targets: 7,785 → 7,800 → 7,835 (ATH) → 7,850 (Call Wall) Scenario C: Post-Breakdown Rebalancing Zone If price remains above 7,600 but below the pivot, the market enters a search for balance within the 7,610–7,670 range. In this environment, I avoid forcing a directional bias and instead trade the edges of the range. Trigger: Price stabilizes within 7,610–7,670. Strategy: Mean reversion — buy the lows and sell the highs until a decisive breakout or breakdown occurs. Scenario D: Short-Squeeze Risk A decisive break and hold above 7,675 would suggest that immediate downside momentum has stalled, increasing the risk of a mid-channel short squeeze toward the Upside Decision Area. Trigger: Acceptance above 7,675. Targets: 7,712 → 7,750 Scenario E: Momentum Short A decisive break below the 7,600 momentum floor (Put Wall) would suggest a transition from a range-bound environment into a potential waterfall move toward the lower channel trendline. Trigger: Acceptance below 7,600 → failed retest of 7,600 as resistance. Target: 7,500 (Major Medium-Term Decision Zone)
