The addition of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the ongoing development of World Celebration (sometimes not for the better), and the continued investments into festival events have all reshaped how visitors move through the park.That transformation hasn’t been limited to attractions. Restaurants throughout EPCOT have also gone through waves of refurbishment, menu overhauls, and schedule changes as Disney recalibrates its dining program to match shifting guest demand. Some locations across Walt Disney World have quietly shifted operations in varying ways.Credit: DisneyMeanwhile, Disney has leaned harder into limited-time refurbishments, often closing venues for weeks or months at a time to refresh dining rooms, update technology, or simply take advantage of slower shoulder seasons to complete maintenance without disrupting the busiest travel periods. The result is a resort that, while still recognizable to longtime fans, is constantly in flux behind the scenes even when the changes aren’t immediately visible on the surface.Amid this backdrop, one of EPCOT’s most distinctive dining destinations is set to make its return. The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion is home to Coral Reef Restaurant, and Disney has now confirmed exactly when guests will be able to dine there again.Coral Reef will close its doors on September 8, 2026, for what was originally billed as an extended and indefinite refurbishment, though Disney has not detailed the specific scope of work taking place during the closure. It remains unclear whether the shutdown reflects a true refurbishment, a planned seasonal pause, or some combination of the two. Regardless of the reason, the closure lasted roughly eight weeks, and reservation calendars now show that Coral Reef Restaurant will reopen on November 4, 2026.Credit: Sarah Larson, Inside the MagicWhen the restaurant returns, it will continue operating on the dinner-only schedule it adopted back on January 4, 2026, seating guests from 4:00 p.m. onward daily. Lunch service, once a staple of the Coral Reef experience, is not confirmed to be coming back, meaning the venue will remain an evening-only option for the foreseeable future.What hasn’t changed is the restaurant’s core appeal: a menu built around Florida Coastal Cuisine, featuring “ocean-fresh specialties and other classic favorites crafted with Florida flair.” Guests can start with a Lobster Bisque before moving into a seasonal entrée lineup that has included Grilled Snapper, Surf and Turf, and Shrimp Fettuccine, along with kid-friendly grilled fish or chicken options for younger diners. Panoramic windows look directly into the massive saltwater habitat at the heart of The Seas pavilion, one of the largest man-made ocean environments, holding enough water to fill 54 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
