The decision was taken during a coordination meeting held at Metro Rail Bhavan in Begumpet on Saturday. Representatives from Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), TGSRTC, the Electricity Department, and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board attended the meeting.During the review, HMR managing director Sarfaraz Ahmad, additional managing director B.Ajith Reddy and joint managing director Shivendra Pratap briefed the Chief Secretary on the progress achieved under the first and second phases of the Hyderabad Metro project.Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju. | Photo Credit: File PhotoMr. Jaju also reviewed the status of the proposed Metro Rail extension in the Old City. Officials explained the ongoing tender process for the appointment of a general consultant for the project. Directing officials to speed up the work, the Chief Secretary stressed that activities related to the 7.5-km Old City Metro corridor should be expedited and construction begin at the earliest.Officials from L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail and TGSRTC informed the meeting that they were technically ready to launch the integrated pass system and had completed the required preparations. They said the system could be rolled out as soon as the fare structure was finalised. The Chief Secretary instructed the concerned agencies to finalise the joint fare structure without delay and implement the integrated pass system immediately.Senior officials who attended the meeting included Hyderabad Metro Water Works managing director K. Ashok Reddy, chief electrical engineer D.V.S. Raju, chief signal and telecommunications engineer Swapna Kumar Das, chief project manager Anand Mohan, chief engineer Bhaskar Reddy and general manager (Finance) Suryaprakasam.CS takes Metro rideEarlier in the day, Mr. Jaju travelled by Hyderabad Metro from Begumpet to Paradise station along with Mr.Ahmad and Mr.Ajith Reddy. During the visit, he inspected commercial establishments and parking facilities at Metro stations and offered suggestions for their further development.
