Sachin Pilot replaces Bhupesh Baghel as Congress gereral secretary for PunjabNEW DELHI: The Congress on Saturday appointed Sachin Pilot as the party’s general secretary in-charge of Punjab, replacing Bhupesh Baghel, news agency PTI reported.The appointment comes as Congress prepares to strengthen its organisation and political strategy in the state ahead of the Punjab assembly elections.Congress had appointed former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel as an AICC general secretary and made him the party’s Punjab in-charge in 2025.A prominent OBC leader, Baghel was credited with helping revive the Congress in Chhattisgarh and led the party to a landslide victory in the 2018 assembly elections.He served as chief minister from 2018 to 2023, with his tenure focusing on pro-farmer policies and rural development.Congress, however, lost the 2023 Chhattisgarh polls to the BJP, with Vishnu Deo Sai subsequently becoming chief minister.Get the latest India News and Live updates.
