Tyler Adams made his first start for Bournemouth in the new English Premier League season on Saturday and was anything short of stellar.Adams impressed in his 75-minute shift as Marco Rose’s side held on for a 2-2 draw with Newcastle United at St. James Park. The U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder was one of the top performers in the match despite Bournemouth throwing away a two-goal lead on the day. Marcus Tavernier delivered Bournemouth’s opening goal after nine minutes before an own goal from Newcastle defender Malick Thiaw gave the Cherries a 2-0 lead after 35 minutes. Harvey Barnes pulled one goal back before the interval with a sensational right-footed strike. Adams covered 5.8 miles in the match, winning seven duels, drawing three fouls, and making three tackles. The 27-year-old teamed up nicely with England international Alex Scott, but watched the final 15+ minutes from the sideline. Despite Bournemouth’s best defensive efforts, Jacob Ramsey would earn Newcastle a share of the spoils, scoring two minutes before stoppage time. It marked the third match this season that Bournemouth dropped points, giving them only two points from three matches under new manager Rose.The Cherries will next turn their attention to an EFL Cup date with Lincoln City on Tuesday.
